DELICIOUS SWEET(DESERT)

CAKE

Everyone likes desserts, right? It is impossible to put into words the pleasure experienced when tucking into a delicious piece of pudding. Indian mithai is a weakness for us Indians. And with such a wide selection, it is impossible to avoid devouring a few. With everything from warm halwa to utterly delicious kheer and delicate barfis, crispy gujiya, and more, I just love having Indian desserts.

I, along with my family members, prepare a variety of Indian desserts on every special occasion, especially at festivals. Indian festivals are celebrated with much joy and endeavor, and food is an essential part of all these festivals. Besides the grand feast, Indian desserts (or mithai) play an important role. Every festival is known to have a dessert of its own.

INGREDIENTS OF MAKING CAKE

Making a biscuit cake in a hostel using a kettle is a creative and simple way to satisfy your sweet cravings. Here's a basic recipe and instructions:

  • Biscuits (any type you prefer, such as digestive biscuits or tea biscuits) - about 250-300g (enough to cover your chosen container)
  • Milk - about 1 cup (240ml)
  • Sugar - about 1/2 cup (100g), adjust to taste
  • Butter  - about 2 tablespoons (30g), softened
  • Toppings (optional): chopped nuts, grated chocolate
  • Eno

EQUIPMENT

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Spoon or Spatula for mixing
  • Deep container for assembling the cake
  • Electric Kettel, Oven.etc

INSTRUCTION

  • Crush the biscuits into small pieces. You can do this by placing them in a plastic bag and gently crushing them with a rolling pin or by using your hands
  • Grease the inside of the kettle with a small amount of butter or oil to prevent sticking.
  • In a separate bowl or cup, mix together the milk, sugar, cocoa powder or drinking chocolate, and vanilla extract (if using) until well combined. Adjust the sweetness according to your taste preferences.
  • Layer the crushed biscuits at the bottom of the kettle, creating an even layer.
  • Pour a portion of the milk mixture over the layer of biscuits, making sure to evenly distribute it.
  • Continue layering the crushed biscuits and milk mixture until you've used up all the ingredients, ending with a layer of biscuits on top.
  • Place the kettle on a stove or any heating source with low heat. Cover the kettle with a lid.
  • Let the biscuit cake cook on low heat for about 15-20 minutes, or until the milk mixture has been absorbed and the biscuits have softened to a cake-like consistency. Check periodically to prevent burning, and adjust the heat as needed.
  • Once the biscuit cake is cooked, carefully remove the kettle from the heat source and let it cool for a few minutes.
  • Use a knife to loosen the edges of the biscuit cake from the kettle, then carefully invert the kettle onto a plate to release the cake.
  • Slice the biscuit cake into portions and serve warm or at room temperature.

Enjoy your homemade biscuit cake made in a kettle right in your hostel! You can also get creative by adding toppings like chocolate syrup, whipped cream, or fresh fruit for extra flavor.
